16th Annual Dancing with the Kansas City Stars

Proving that the beat does go on, the 16th Dancing with the Kansas City Stars didn't skip a beat and delivered a rousing success for the students of Cristo Rey. Spearheaded by Honorary Chairs Matt Sharples and Christina Ricci, more than 1,000 guests packed the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel at Crown Center and raised more than $1.2 million in critically-needed funds for the students and programs of Cristo Rey.
The headline attraction of the evening was the all-star dance competition. Eight hometown heroes accepted the challenge to partner with dance professionals and perform live dance numbers for votes from event attendees. Much like Cristo Rey Kansas City, the evening was fast-paced and culminated with Eric Guettermann earning Grand Prize. First Runner Up Bradley Wiedeman - a.k.a. 'The Beat Boy from Brooklyn,' Second Runner Up Alex Couchonnal McManus, Judges' Choice Tara Ard, Jeff Cathey, Andrew Marquardt, Alise Martiny and Alena Prenger completed the crowd-pleasing line-up that did not disappoint.
Throughout the evening, the good glue that held the event together was Fox 4's Kathy Quinn as Mistress of Ceremonies and the esteemed panel of judges - Shawn Tyler, Kate O'Keefe, Kevin Ryan and the social media phenomenon John Drury, The Dancing Trucker.
In the weeks and months leading up to the big night, generous event sponsors said, "Yes." Community support inspires the students of Cristo Rey to go the distance, complete their educations, and mature into contributing members of our community.
