As Trustees, Former Students Come Full Circle
Posted on 09/02/2019
Eddie Sanchez and Silverio Gonzalez have come full circle in their new roles as Trustees of Cristo Rey Kansas City. Early adopters of the Cristo Rey method, the pair achieved college graduation and are building professional careers.
As alumni, each has a vested interest to ensure that Cristo Rey continues to be an option for high school students in metropolitan Kansas City. Commissioned for service on August 27, the alumni have had the opportunity to experience the school from multiple angles – student, alumni and community advocate.
Sanchez, a member of the school’s first graduating class in 2010 and an accountant with NorthPoint Development, recalled enrolling in a school with only freshmen, no sports teams, and no dining hall. Sanchez observed that the growth of the school and its programs is amazing. Gonzalez entered Cristo Rey’s second class, graduated in 2011, and is software quality assurance analyst with Real Quantum. Each pointed to the education that he received at Cristo Rey as catalyst for entering and completing college.
