A Statement of the Seeking Racial Justice Interest Group of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth
Affirming the value and dignity of all people, we denounce the rising incidence of
discrimination, harassment and violence being perpetrated against Asian Americans and Asians living in the United States. We pray solace for the families of those who lost their lives and healing for those who were injured in the recent shootings in Atlanta, Georgia.
We urge leaders across all levels of government to speak and act in support of justice and equality, regardless of the racial origins and ethnicity of persons striving to earn a living and be at home in this country. We encourage all Americans to open their minds and hearts, and to foster a spirit of sisterly and brotherly love to replace the demonizing rhetoric and hateful violence that recurs too frequently.
As members of the Seeking Racial Justice Interest Group of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, we stand in solidarity with all people of color, and pledge to work for equality and equity among all people, focusing on personal and societal transformation and reconciliation on behalf of racial justice.
