A View from the President's Office

John O'Connor

Dear Friends,

In 2006, Cristo Rey Kansas City opened its doors making an intentional investment in students of limited economic means across the metro area. Drawing on the educational experience of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and the Cristo Rey Network, school leaders set out to make college and career-prep education accessible for ambitious students.
In this mission, the school does not work alone but in collaboration with many – the Board of Trustees, a President’s Advisory Council, work study partners, volunteer tutors and mentors, and, of the highest importance, our students and their families.

Early in 2020 – long before a global pandemic impacted every aspect of life – stakeholders gathered to chart the course for the next five years. Through an in-person retreat and countless Zoom calls, a plan emerged identifying five strategic imperatives.

In this strategic plan, we commit our energies to five strategic imperatives that define Cristo Rey’s areas of strength and fit squarely within our mission and values. We are under no illusions that our efforts will be without challenge; thus, our planning document is a flexible one, allowing us to be responsive to change.

This plan is our pathway forward to 2025.
We hope that you will settle in and read further.

Ever forward,

John O'Connor
