Come and experience the “beat and pulse” of leading edge learning. The Cristo Rey Summer Enrichment Program will expose you to exciting concepts in science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Students will need transportation to and from all summer enrichment sessions. A staff member will be on site 30 minutes before start time if you need to drop a child off early. Sessions are held at various sites in the midtown Kansas City area – see session details below for specific locations. All-day sessions include lunch. Snacks will be provided at half-day sessions.

Session I: Industrial Design
When: June 13-17, 2016     9 am - 3 pm
Who: Ages 14-18

Where: STEAM Studio at Gould Evans
Architecture on 4041 Mill Street in Westport and Shick USA at 4346 Clary Blvd, Kansas City
Teacher: Dr. Mandi Sonnenberg

Cost: $40

Want to design and build something meaningful? Ever wonder how a machine is created, then developed and manufactured? You will explore different careers and exciting opportunities in manufacturing from marketing to human resources, engineering, project management, assembly, production, and product development at an actual manufacturing plant. Learn what it takes to make and build a better tomorrow.

Session II: Girls Who Code
When: June 20-June 24 2016     9 am - 3 pm
Who: Girls ages 12-17
Where: STEAM Studio at Gould Evans Architecture on 4041 Mill Street, Westport
Teacher: Vanessa Steger
Cost: $40

Calling all girls! Have you heard about coding and computer science but thought that they didn’t sound like they were for you? What IS coding anyway? What can you do with it? Come learn the basics of programming for part of the day, then spend a few hours visiting technology companies and professionals who will tell you how coding is actually USED!

Session III: Coding with Raspberry Pi - This class is now full. If your interest is science and electronics in the real world, Industrial Design and Girls Who Code would also be great fits!
When: June 27-July 1, 2016      9 am - noon
Who: Ages 11-16

Did you know a computer the size of a credit card can run computer games and word processing programs? Learn how to program using the Raspberry Pi, the cutest computer in the world. By the end of the week, you will have built your own circuits, created your own interactive “chat bot” and learned just how (or if!) computers can do things on their own.

Session IV: Studio Art
When: July 5-8, 2016     9 am - noon
Who: Ages 12-17
Where: STEAM Studio at Gould Evans Architecture

Cost: $30

The summer art workshop is intended to inspire students to embrace creativity through art and design. Students will focus on developing art skills that are technical, yet intuitive. Possible projects may include pencil, charcoal, watercolor, relief printing, and Vans shoe decoration by themes. The design process allows students to focus on developing and refining art skills with an emphasis on composition, value, and color relationships.

Session V: Culinary Arts
When: July 11-15, 2016     1-4 pm
Who: Ages 12-16
Where: Cristo Rey Kansas City
Cost: $30

The #1 way to create healthy eaters is to get young people into the kitchen. Want to know how nutrition is an essential element for the sports training table or taking a test? When you care enough to send your very best, make food a gift! Learn how in this class. It will be ‘mm ‘mm good!

Registration is not complete until payment is received. Payment options are:

1. Online - online payments go through Cristo Rey Kansas City's online donation form here. Under "Donation Amount" select "Other" and enter the total amount for your camps. Under "Donation Occurrence" select "Once." Under "Gift Designation" select "Other" and type "Summer Enrichment Payment." Leave the "Matching Gift Company" blank. Fill in the "Your Information" textboxes. Make sure this matches the parent/guardian/caregiver contact name in the registration request form. This is how your payment will be matched to your registrations. Leave "Honor / Memorial Information" Type blank. Then continue to payment.

2. Check - Please make your check payable to Cristo Rey Kansas City and mail to:

3. Cash - Please stop by the school front office at 211 W Linwood Blvd to make a cash payment and receive a receipt.
